Ahoy Dare!I’m Liz, a self-taught textile artist, rebel maker, and unapologetic lover of all things bold and unique. After maternity leave in 2021 and a failed attempt to squeeze back into the corporate world as an IT trainer, I took the plunge into something completely different. And so, Ahoy Dare was born, right in a wooden workshop in my back garden.Armed with a bunch of vintage domestic knitting machines (my pride and joy), I started turning trash into treasure—upcycling forgotten fabrics and fibers into one-of-a-kind clothing and accessories that scream individuality. It’s sustainable, it’s fun, and every piece is bursting with personality.Fast forward to 2023, and I’d outgrown my little garden setup. That’s when I snagged a spot at the iconic Hotwalls in Old Portsmouth—a dreamy space for artists and makers like me. But even that couldn’t contain my ever-growing collection of machines and big ideas, so I’ve since expanded into a larger studio where the magic continues.At Ahoy Dare, I’m all about slow fashion with serious attitude. Every piece I make is full of character, just like the people who wear them.
